What is that?
This is an example of what Air Entrainment (an admixture) looks like once it is added to the concrete. It is tiny bubbles that cause air pockets in exterior concrete and helps in the prevention of cracks. |
|
Concrete/Cement:
|
People often confuse cement with concrete. Concrete is a mixture of cement,
aggregates and water that hardens to form a building material used for everything
from sidewalks to skyscrapers. Behind water, concrete is the most consumed substance
on earth, with almost one ton of it being used for each human every year. Cement is
to concrete what flour is to fruitcake. It is a fine powder that is the principle
strength-giving and property-controlling component of concrete.

|
Fly Ash:
|
The chemical and physical properties of fly ash improve many of the properties
of concrete. Some of which include: workability & consolidation; which requires
less vibration, increased flexural and compressive strength, improves pumpability,
reduces drying shrinkage, reduces water requirements and so on. From a physical
standpoint what is happening to your concrete is the fine fly ash particles, which
are smaller then the cement particles, fill the interstitial voids in the concrete.

|
Rebar:
|
Rebar is used as a concrete reinforcement. The most popular size used would be
the 60 grade ˝” Rebar. This comes in 20’ lengths and is a great way to reinforce
your concrete for better quality and longevity.
|
|
Wire Mesh:
|
Wire mesh is also used as a concrete reinforcement. It is in the form of welded
wire reinforcement. Wire mesh is laid down on the prepared surface before placing
the concrete.
|
|
Concrete Sealer:
|
The sealer forms a membrane film which seals in and retains 97% of the hydration
water to provide maximum hardness of the substrate, resistance to abrasion,
damage caused by salt, oil, grease, mild acids and alkali, and stains from soot,
smog, fumes and gases. Construction debris does not adhere to the concrete;
cleanup is easier, less cost of labor.
|
|
Bright Seal:
|
On exposed aggregate this sealer intensifies the color, and highlights the
exposed aggregate and terrazzo, adds sparkle to the finished project. It also
increases the aesthetic value and longevity.

Some guidelines to follow when ordering concrete: Before you calll to place an order be sure to have the date and time you wish the material to be delivered, the site's correct address, your office (or home) phone number and your cell/pager numbers ready to give to our order taker. Be prepared for the delivery. Have access into the jobsite free of obstructions (parked cars, lumber piles, children playing, roaming animals, etc) and free of overhead and underground utility lines. Do not let anyone park a vehicle near the Schwartz truck.
Select one person to be in charge of giving the truck instructions for accessing the jobsite. For better driver visibility, stand on the driver's side of the truck and have helpers to watch the passenger side of the truck, especially when backing in next to a building or structure. Don't forget to look up at how the truck is clearing tree branches, powelines and roof eves. Use hand signals that are easily recognizable by the driver.
